Located in Punta Gorda, the Military Heritage Museum’s purpose is to honor all who serve. From the Revolutionary War through modern conflicts and across all five military branches, the Museum utilizes multiple methods to educate its visitors on the heritage aspects of US military history. With thirty thousand-plus artifacts, veterans serving as museum guides, flight and ship simulators, virtual reality experiences, thousands of infographics, live performances, and audiovisual displays, the Museum provides unique and innovative experiences throughout its 17,000 square foot facility. The museum is designed to be a great family-friendly attraction, providing a “can’t get anywhere else” experience! ADA-accessible building, with elevator available at Parking Structure entrance.

Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens, Inc.

Discover this enchanting sanctuary of art and nature. They integrate Florida’s natural landscape with more than 4500 plants, trees, and bamboos to become one of the largest botanical and sculpture gardens in Florida. Enjoy a shady walk down their mangrove paths to the Peace River or cross the bridge to their island for a picturesque view of the wetlands around Hunter’s Creek. Intertwined with the bountiful plants and animals of this unique ecosystem is a large, permanent world-class sculpture collection to further delight your senses. There is also a full calendar of exhibits and events ranging from art classes and horticulture workshops to yoga and performing art engagements. This 27-acre preserve has over a mile and a half of walking trails, most of which are handicap accessible. Stop by the giftshop filled with unique, locally made treasures, feed the koi in the expansive water-lily-filled pond, witness the beauty of pollinators in the favorited Butterfly House, spy unique birds, and witness what’s in bloom as you stroll throughout the sanctuary. A perfect destination for all ages! A day at the Gardens will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired!

Punta Gorda History Park

Visit Punta Gorda’s only weekly Artisans Market, held every Sunday in the History Park. You will discover local artists selling their creations, as well as our resident artists in the History Park Artisan Village, where the Peace River Woodturners, the Punta Gorda Fiber Arts Group, and Southwest Florida Potters Guild each work out of one of our historic buildings. Their buildings are open to the public during market hours on Sunday, as well as during Music in the Park and other events. In addition to our artisans, the Sunday market vendors include local providers of farm fresh produce and eggs, locally hived honey, home baked artisan breads, goat cheese, and other goodies. Come check out our wonderful vendors!

Visual Arts Center

The largest free art gallery in the region. This non-profit center offers three major galleries, six classrooms, jewelry, glass, pottery & technology studios, an extensive arts library, and a well-stocked art supply store, as well as a gift shop with all original artwork, jewelry, pottery, glasswork and fiber art. Annual events include the fall Battle of the Brushes, the outdoor Peace River National Art Festival in March and December, and the indoor biennial National Art Exhibit at the VAC. Open year 'round and featuring ground-level entry with ramped access. The entire facility is wheelchair accessible, including restrooms, water fountains, sinks, parking, curbing, and the main entry and exit.

Punta Gorda Historic Mural Tour

The Punta Gorda Historic Mural Society offers guided and self-guided tours of murals found throughout Punta Gorda. Our Guided Mural Walking Tours are seasonal. Check their website for availability. If you have a group who would like a private tour, please contact the Punta Gorda Chamber for more information. They use professional audio equipment so you can hear every word. Self-guided walking tours can be done using their free Walking Guide. Each mural has a QR code you can scan to learn more about it and the history it captures. OR Better Yet – Download the Otocast app and search for Punta Gorda, FL. This app allows the user to see, hear and explore cultural attractions and destinations from your mobile phone or device. You can see photos of each mural, it’s location and hear an audio description of the history right from your phone. It will even tell you if a mural is nearby as you’re walking the town.

Sea Grape is a cooperative fine art gallery located in downtown Punta Gorda, Florida. The Gallery is recognized by local and seasonal patrons as the premier venue for high quality art. It has won many awards over the years for its contributions to the community and to local arts organizations. Realist, impressionist, and abstract paintings are available in a variety of mediums. The Gallery also offers nature photography and a large selection of unique fine crafts, including jewelry, pottery, glass, basketry and fiber art.

Starry Night Florida

They offer an experience like no other, touring the wonders of the night sky in Punta Gorda Florida! Your friendly and knowledgeable guide will take you on a personalized tour of the cosmos. This is your chance to explore stars, planets, nebulae, galaxies, and much more! You will have an opportunity to use binoculars and view distant objects through their large telescope. This is a fun and unique experience right here in Charlotte County. Refreshments are provided.
